Current Information:Age-40 Born-Hertfordshire Enlisted-Lambeth Gunners Farm Military Cemetery, Belgium 11th Royal West Surrey (Queens) were formed in Lambeth in June 1915 and arrived in France a year later as part of 123 Brigade, 41st Division. On 17th June, 1916 they moved into the front line trenches at Le Bizet, just north of Armentières. William Muncey died of wounds on 19th June, and as he is buried in the nearby Gunners Military Cemetery it is likely that he was wounded during this tour of the front line. He may well have been the man recorded in the Battalion Diary as having been accidentally wounded on 18th June. |
